Flash Overlaying on Top of HTML Elements? Try “wmode”
by Jonathan Dingman on September 28th, 2011
Flash likes to take over and be the top most element visible on the page. For our Presence Bar in particular, this is an issue, as it sticks to the bottom of the page.
If you have a flash element on your site, whether a video, our Webchat embedded, or any other flash element, it may overlay on top of one of the IMs or Chatrooms in the Presence Bar.
To fix this, you need to set the “wmode” for Flash.
Inside the embed code, add this parameter:
<param name=”wmode” value=”opaque”/>
This will fix the issue and allow for an IM or Chat window to overlay on top of the Flash element on the page.
