Userplane FAQs

Userplane Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing FAQs

In the pricing, what does Conn. Spillover mean?

Conn. spillover means Userplane will not keep your users from joining a chat just because it would put you over the amount of connections allowed for your particular package.  Userplane is here to make you successful and when you cap someone you are creating a poor experience for your users. Userplane lets you go beyond your allocated connections in a given month. We then work with you to evolve you to the package right for you based on your site's usage. While many of our competitors have a hard cap, the only time Userplane caps is in our Free/Starter package.

In the pricing, what does Connections mean?

Connections  refer to the total number of people connecting to our servers at a given time. This is what the packages are primarily based. Every-time a user opens the application they are connecting to our servers and constitute a simultaneous connection. We never block users from connecting - users will never be denied access due to package limits except those users within our Free/Starter package. If you are consistently going over your package we will simply request that you upgrade. We also do not charge for connection overages.

What does "all-in-one" pricing mean?

You are paying for connections and hosting and not an app or feature.  In addition, you are paying one package fee and NO additional costs unless you have BW overages. Unlike our competitors you do not pay for upgrades, you do not pay to upgrade connection packages and you do not pay for any plugins.

I only want to use one Userplane application. Why am I paying for accessing to all Userplane applications?

You are not paying for all Userplane applications. You are paying for usage, regardless of which features/applications you use on your site. You are only paying for the connections  you use regardless of the application or feature. Userplane just makes all its features and applications available to you so you can drive engagement on your site. We are not in the business of limiting you but rather providing the tools that will make you success.

Do I need to commit to a certain length of subscription?

No, there is no commitment with Userplane. You are paying month-to-month.

Can we use Userplane apps if we use a web accelerator program on our site?

Some web accelerator software is known to cause problems with the XML portion of the integration. A known issue is with a product by port80software.com. The issue here is with the generation of the XML page. If the file that generates the XML is going through this software it will not parse correctly and will subsequently not send our servers the proper info. To work around these types of problems it is necessary to either exclude the file that generates the XML from the program, or host it somewhere that is not running through the accelerator program. The other files that are part of the integration should be unaffected.

What characters can be used in userID's?

Not all characters will work for sessionGUID's or userID's. The following are the characters that will work for these;

a-z A-Z 0-9
{ } @ _ - .

Thus spaces and particularly < and > will not work. For questions about this email Userplane Support.
