Userplaners
If you have not already heard, Userplane was officially acquired by AOL! We
had been in discussions with AOL for quite some time and after much
anticipation on both sides - we have formalized our relationship and now are
a division of AOL. Fortunately for Userplane and our clients, this allows us
to have the best of both worlds. AOL is allowing us autonomy - working
within our own budgets and offices while providing us the depth of AOL
resources.
Initially you should see very few changes. We are currently working on a
fully supported AIM version of our product, allowing optional integration of
your Userplane Webmessenger with the AIM service - one of our top requested
features over the past years. In addition we are working with AOL to bring
some new product offerings to our clients - which you should see in the next
few months.
In addition, we have launched a few important features we would like to
bring to your attention. Our instant-install communities now can benefit
from “Userplane ID entry-only”, preventing guest access into
your accounts. This is an additional security feature - and one that will
improve the overall user experience for our partners.
Integrated clients can now opt-in to an ad-based relationship - where they
can display ads within their Webchat and Webmessenger and receive revenue
from the impressions (which we will manage and sell for you). In addition
many sites are now using the Userplane Ad Network for their general ad
inventory - allowing us to further support our communities by driving
revenue back to them!
